The latest version of Photon Design's highly popular laser diode/SOA simulator, HAROLD, now includes a complete "k.p" model. This addition allows for the consideration of a full non-parabolic valence band structure in the calculation of gain, spontaneous emission, and carrier density in the quantum well region.

HAROLD Version 7.0 also includes the following features:

  • Support for forward bias voltage in the Harold QCSE/EAM module.
  • Complex version of the mode solver for modeling irreversible modes.
  • Ability to edit boundary conditions in the HaroldXY mode solver.
  • Improvement in solving the Schrödinger equation in quantum wells.
  • Multiple bug fixes.
